My mother-in-law taught me the importance of sweeping - especially the corners. It is marvellous how fresh and clean things look with just a little care. The corners are where everything collects...the grime, the errant hair, the back of an earring, the anger at a comment. The corners are oft best avoided for it takes more than the wielding of the broom. Corners take the precision of a carpenter or a surgeon to angle the tool in such a way as to get it all out.
We can bypass the crooks but at some point they are evident to all. The room or the life feels soiled when we evade something too long. The corners expose the accumulation of resentment, jealousy and all the things we try to hide behind a facade or a hastily swept room.
